I love the Rogue gear and I'm using it in more and more of my shoots.
A couple of years ago I saw my first Flashbender at Focus on Imaging and ended up coming home with a medium Flashbender.
Last year I went back to Focus on Imaging and bought a large Flashbender with diffusion panel, a standard gel set and a grid set.
This year at Focus I bought the new XL Flashbender set and a set of gels for the grid set.
The photograph at at the top of this post was one of my first test shots using the XL flashbender.
However most people I talk to don't seem to have ever heard or seen these accessories in action, so I thought before I start making posts to this blog about shots taking this gear it maybe worth linking to a few demonstrations and reviews I've found on the internet.
This video from Photowalkthrough shows a demo of the XL Flashbender at Focus.
So what can you do with the Rogue stuff?
Here is a short video from Mark Wallace showing what you can achieve with a large Flashbender and gels.
OK that video just showed what you can get with a standard Flashbender and a gel, but what did the XL bring to the party? Frank Doorhof demonstrates.
I think that demonstrates the Flashbender indoors. But the point of these devices is to get out on location. Unlike umbrellas and softboxes, theses light modifiers don't turn into wind socks with just a light breeze. So its easy to use them outside (even in the rain).
I really like grids and gels, and I know there are lots of different systems out there.
I think this system makes it very simple to use both the grids and gels together.
My friend Mark has done a quick review of the standard Rogue gel kit.
Sorry this post has been rather video heavy. But I though it useful to gather all the reviews and demonstrations together in one place.
I'll post more examples of the results I get using this gear in a later post.
